The Winskill Canadian National Record 4×100 Free Relay W240-279 team was composed of Liz Smith (64), Fernanda Ho (60), Kenna Papadopoulos (71) and Lynda Mageau (49). This was the first Canadian record for Fernanda, Kenna and Lynda. The official time was 6:06.27. The old record was 6:08.47, so it was improved by 2.2 seconds.
Fernanda first joined the Otters in March 2012. At that time, she was swimming on her own and a workout was 200m. With the Otters, 200m was just the start of warm-up. She has progressed amazingly over the last 2 years.
Kenna joined the club at the age of 59 and was barely able to swim 25m. Now at 71 she competes in 200 & 400 free events.
Lynda is back again after a serious shoulder/neck injury and is swimming better than ever.
Liz is recovering from fractured wrist which happened in late November, and is starting to swim better again. All in all, this Winskill team which has overcome some definite challenges and was very proud to come home from Provincials with this Canadian Record.
